WC Qualifiers: Algeria Acquire Zefizef As Lions Clash Nears

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced on Thursday an appointment of Djahid-Abdeloueheb Zefizef as the new general manager of the national selection.

This appointment comes after the dismissal of Amine Labdi on Monday, during a work session between the President of the FAF, Charaf-Eddine Amara, and other members of the national team staff, in anticipation of the double confrontation against Cameroon in the Qatar 2022 playoffs.

After the elimination of Algeria in the first round of the AFCON-2021, finishing bottom in group E with only one point, the FAF boss had promised significant changes in the structures which manage the national team.

Djahid-Abdeloueheb Zefizef (59) has formerly held several positions at FAF, including that of vice-president during the mandate of former president Khierddine Zetchi before resigning in September 2018.

He was also part of the backroom staff of team Algeria in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and 2014 in Brazil with former President Mohamed Raouraoua, as a member of the federal office.

The first mission of the new manager of the Desert Foxes is to prepare for the double encounter against Cameroon in the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup scheduled between March 23 and 29.
