WCQ: Addo Includes Four New Faces In Black Stars’ Squad to Pit Nigeria

Ghana has finally released her squad for their WC play-offs clash against Nigeria. Nine other teams in the running already released their lists of retained players, and Ghana finally published theirs this Tuesday, in the early hours of the morning.

the group called up by the new coach Otto Addo to face Nigeria on Friday and next Tuesday in the play-offs of the World Cup 2022, has four new faces.

The list of 27 players is marked by several major absences, the biggest being captain Andre Ayew, suspended following his expulsion from the AFCON game against Comoros, just like Benjamin Tetteh.

Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, Baba Rahman, Mubarak Wakaso and Samuel Owusu are equally out.

Although announced Covid-19 positive by certain sources, Jordan Ayew is however very present.

The four new faces involved are: winger Elisha Owusu (24), born in France, veteran defensive midfielder Denis Odoi (33), who once won a cap with Belgium in 2012. Dennis Korsah AS Roma youngster, Felix Afena Gyan (19), who had declined his invitation under pressure from his club a few months ago, completed the newbies.

Even a “speech to the nation” by coach Otto Addo that was announced at 8:30 a.m., encountered major technical problems.

After hours of silence, the body ended up broadcasting the videos of this famous speech via other platforms while issuing an apology statement.
