Youssoufa Moukoko Breaks Record Even Lewandowski Would Have Been Proud Of

Of all great strikers who have come and gone in the Bundesliga, Youssoufa Moukoko has broken a record that lasted 17 years.

He became the youngest player to score a Bundesliga goal in a game pitting Borussia Dortmund against Bayern Munich.

It was the German youth international of Cameroonian descent’s third goal of the 2022-23 Bundesliga campaign – that equalled his highest goal tally in the German topflight since he was promoted to the first team.

Goals from Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sané helped Bayern Munich take a two goal lead in the ‘Der Klassiker’ before Youssoufa Moukoko and Anthony Modeste helped Borussia Dortmund earn a share of the spoils. Modeste scored a 95th minute equaliser, as BVB finally managed to end their losing streak against Bayern Munich. Moukoko’s goal in the classic game cancelled out a record previously held by Lars Ricken’s way back in 1985 ( 18 years, 286 days).

This form makes a favourite to start for Edin Terzic’s men when they take on Sevilla in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter. It will not be surprising if Cameroon ask Moukoko to switch allegiance to the African country ahead of the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
