Zamalek Back Into CAF champions League Quarter-Final Mix With Win Over ES Tunis

Zamalek beat Espérance Sportive of Tunis (3-1) on Tuesday, March 7, on match day 4 of the TotalEnergies CAF champions league.

It is a victory that leads the White Knights back into the race for qualification in the quarter-finals.

The dice was thrown pretty early in the game. Well served from the penalty spot, Seif Farouk Gaafar opened the scoring for Zamalek in the 9th minute. The referee then whistled a penalty for the hosts after a foul by Meriah on Seifeddine Jaziri. Ahmed Sayed Zizo did not panic as he calmly converted in the 29th minute.

Zamalek played with fire in the second period by letting ES Tunis half deficit before the hour mark.

Well served by Chaalali, Riyad Benayad scored with a first time shot on the turn at the 57th minute.

However, Seifeddine Jaziri made sure of the points with a diving header in added time (90 + 1st) to make it 3-1.

The Egyptian champions thus take their revenge after a 2-0 defeat in the reversed fixture and joins Al Merreikh in 3rd place with 4 points.

EST remains the leaders with 9 points, 3 ahead of CR Belouizdad with 6 points.
