2023 National Interpools: Union Sportive D’abong Bang pip Sporting FC, ISOHSA remain unbeaten

Game day 2 of the 2023 National Interpool saw two teams in group B move up to 4 points.

Union Sportive D’abong Bang secured its first win of the competition after narrowly defeating Far North representatives, Sporting Football Club of Maroua via the odd goal (1-0) at the Olembe Annex A patch.

Johnson Souman Berry scored a tap-in from close range at the 21st minute to propel the team to victory in Monday’s early kickoff.

Berry’s goal gifted Union Sportive D’abong Bang a much needed win after a draw was obtained against ISOHSA on game day 1.

The Isle of Hope Sports Academy took on Volcan Football Club of Noun in the second match up at the Olembe Annex A stadium.

ISOHSA was no walk in the park for Volcan as many whispered courtesy Volcan’s dominant display in the first game. The south West representatives in fact, took the lead at the cusp of halftime.

Nick Afafa, who came in as a like-for-like swoop for Babo Brandon – scored at the 44th minute after an inch perfect ball from Thomas Arrey.

Volcan dug deep and came back after the pose to level matters. Second half substitute Arouna Njikam headed in his second of the tournament, and the game’s equaliser at the 62nd minute.

It ended one-all and both teams shared the spoils. The biggest winner from game day 2 in pool B is Union Sportive D’abong Bang. Both Union Sportive D’abong Bang and Volcan Football Club lead the group with 4 points apiece.

ISOHSA follows with 2 points in the third place. Sporting Football Club and Academie Nyom ii are yet to register any points.
