Sacha Boey Puts Indomitable Lions On Hold

Often asked of his availability by Indomitable Lions coach Rigobert Song to join team Cameroon, Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey gave French paper L’Equipe reasons for his hesitation.

Question: You are considered in Turkey as the best full-back in the Championship. Has your status changed at the club?

Sacha Boey: I’m really fulfilled. I have more bearings with people, I am good in the collective. I am having the best season of my career. The coach has always been benevolent. There has never been unfair competition, for example. If we perform, he gives his confidence.

When we type your name on the Internet, we only see occurrences with Cameroon, where you are from. Is there a chance you play with the Indomitable Lions?

Only a few days ago, I dinned with the coach (Rigobert Song), it went well. I have dual-nationality. You have to know that it’s hard to make a choice, I have the future ahead of me. Cameroon is also my country but I have never been there. I would have to discover it a little first, feel a connection. We’ll see. In any case, I will do everything to be good at my job to be able to apply for what is best.

Are you going to leave Turkey this summer?

Here, I experienced the lows, the highs. My performance is consistent now. I think it’s time to turn a corner but we’ll see at the end of the season depending on what happens.

The right back is a position which could soon be vacant for Cameroon as long term right back Fai Collins is ageing out. 22-year-old Sacha Boey who has played 23 games for two assists this season is a serious option to takeover that position.
