Cameroon vs Comoros: Remembering the 2022 Scare as the Lions Meet Comoros Again
The Comoros Islands are yet to register a win against Cameroon, but their latest meeting left the Indomitable Lions with a scare.
Comoros were without several regulars because of COVID-19 and, remarkably, had to field an outfield player, left-back Chaker Alhadhur, in goal. Alhadhur ended up doing surprisingly well, making several important saves as Cameroon were forced to settle for a narrow 2–1 victory in the 2022 AFCON Round of 16.
The indomitable Lions will now battle it out against Comoros in pursuit for a place at the the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The game will take place at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium.
It is the first time Cameroon will be in action since March 2026. They secured a 2-0 win against China and will be looking to keep their momentum alive. Their performances during the last AFCON campaign were not good enough.
The Cameroon national football team were knocked out by Morocco in the quarterfinals. The David Pagou-led side will be looking to control the game from the start at home. They must build a solid strategy right from the start, or otherwise it will become a pressurising situation.
Comoros island had a face-off against Equatorial Guinea in June. They came out on top with a 1-0 victory. Los Coelacantes will also be looking to extend their positive run of form.
