Cameroon Cup: Tanga Samuel blast Dynamo to last 8

Dynamo Football club of Douala have dismissed rivals Avion Academy in the Cameroon Cup as they continue what has so far been a scintillating season.

Dynamo, fresh from gaining promotion in the country’s top-flight picked up the victory at the Bepanda Omnisport Annex stadium, which was filled to capacity this Sunday, Jan. 11.

The lone goal of the game came courtesy right back Tanga Samuel at the 83rd minute of play in what was an academic win and sheer dominance on the part of the three-time Cameroon cup winners.

Dynamo started the livelier of the both sides and the Littoral outfit hit the side netting at the 5th minute from Dimitry Jordan’s attempt.

Dynamo’s leading poacher Mathias Malep struck the bar at the 33rd minute after a hopeful ball from skipper, Joseph Bruno, neutralized the Avion defense .

Avion Academy rarely had a sight at goal but after the pose, second half substitute Nteng Steve missed a sitter.

The forward pounced after a moment of hesitation between Feumba Tresor and Balogog Fabrice, but Nteng side footed wide.

Dynamo took control from then hence, and utterly dominated, winning lose balls in the middle of the park.

Mathias Malep, who has a goal to his credit in the competition showed his usual doggedness, bouncing off defenders, losing but going on-to-win and his follow-up strike only hit the side netting at the 76th minute.

Dynamo smelled blood and continued to pile on the pressure, but Avion’s luck grew as Nanga Joseph hit the side netting yet again, at the 80th minute.

Finally, the deadlock was struck open at the 83rd minute through a thunderous strike by right back Tanga Samuel.

The full-back was lurking in the area and pounced after a diagonal from Ibrahim Cherif got through to his path.

Dynamo Football Club have won the Cameroon cup title three times; 1979, 1981 and 1998, but the Bondbadjop will look to get a fourth star to grace a stellar campaign.
