AFCON 2023: M’Changama’s scores late as Comoros defeat Lesotho in deadrubber game

Comoros leapfrogged Lesotho 1-0 at the Orlando stadium to consolidate third spot in group H of the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The lone goal of the encounter came courtesy Auxerre midfeilder Youssouf M’Changama from Djoudja’s assist late in the second stanza.

The goal was scored on the whistle (90 minutes) but was not enough to change the complexion of the group, as Zambia did the job against Cote D’Ivoire in Ndola.

2021 AFCON surprise package Comoros, will now miss out on the continental showpiece next year.

However, The Coelacanths salvaged some pride with point accumulation (6); and a possibility to add when they face Zambia on September 4.

Group H is sorted out with hosts AFCON hosts Cote D’Ivoire and Zambia making it through to the tournament finals. The remainder of the fixtures in September are deadrubber games.
