Exclusive: Cranes defender Gift Fred completes 3-Year deal to YANGA

Young Africans Sports Club (YANGA) have completed the signing of Uganda Cranes defender Gift Fred for a period of 3 years, sportgliz can confirm.

The 24-year-old who formerly played for SCV Kampala in the Ugandan premier league put pen to paper this evening, under the watch of celebrated agent Amadou Tigana and the Royal scout agency.

YANGA are off the back of a scintillating campaign having ended beaten finalists to USMA in the CAF Confederation cup, and finishing winners of the Tanzanian premiership. Keeping that elite status is what the Wananchi aims at, with Tanzania juggernauts Simba and Azam lurking to seize the championship.

Gift is a full Ugandan international. In December 2022, coach Milutin Sedrojevic invited him to be included in the Uganda national football team for the 2022 African Nations Championship which happens in Algeria.

He made his debut in a friendly game between Uganda and Mali which ended in a 0–0 draw in Tunusia.

Fred made his official senior debut in the 2022 African Nations Championship tournament when Uganda shared spoils the against Democratic Republic of Congo on 14 January 2023 at Annaba Stadium in Algeria.

Gift Fred will fly to Tanzania to join the team later this week with YANGA set to make a travel for the pre season soon.
