2023 WWC: Turbo-charged Nnadozie help super falcons to a point against Canada

Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale insisted that the side could have picked maximum points their opening 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup fixture against Canada.

The nine-time African champions forced Brev Priestman’s side to a 0-0 draw at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, was named the player of the match following her impressive performance for Nigeria against Canada in their first game at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

According to reports, Canada had a chance to take the lead in the 59th minute when they were awarded a penalty, with Christine Sinclair stepping up.

However, Nnadozie dived well to save the kick and was also named the player of the match, according to a tweet by Nigerian Football Federation official, Ruth David.

While fans were pleased with Nigeria’s result from their opening game, the happier supporters would certainly be the Australians, who are currently topping Group B following their 1-0 win over Ireland.

However, the Super Falcons will need to build on their draw if they are to advance from the group stages.

Randy Waldrum’s girls of the Super Falcons started the game on the backfoot, with the Canadians dominating the exchanges and pressing to apply sustained pressure upfront.
