Cotonsport Accompanying the Lions in Cash and kind

Country Juggernauts Cotonsport are acting as an auxiliary to the Indomitable Lions ahead of the ‘must win’ 2023 AFCON qualifiers encounter, set to follow on Tuesday 12 against Burundi.

The 18-time Elite One winners provided its ultramodern bus to the Indomitable Lions upon the team’s arrival at the Garoua international airport on Wednesday 6th.

Unarguably the team with most fans in the North region, Cotonsport are equally channeling the energy of club faithfuls to the Indomitable Lions.

Sportglitz learned of the team’s intentions to get a jam-packed Roumde Adjia stadium, with the acquisition of tickets worth over 3 million in francs cfa.

Top ranked officials at the SODECOTON franchise, players, staff and well wishers, will all have a seat in the 30,000 capacity stadium, where the 2008 CAF champions league finalists receive home matches.

Amongst the 24 players called up for the game, 3 played for Cotonsport before journeys abroad.

The club’s director of communications – Adamou Saliou, reveled in an interview done by the sportglitz crew, that it is an obligation to accompany the national team, especially when they are in Garoua.

Cognizant of the inclusion of Vincent Aboubakar, Ngamaleu and Anguissa in Rigobert Song’s 24-man squad, fans of the mythical club will have the chance to view their former players in real time.

Talking about the return of 3 former players to a place once considered home, the director added that he expects good performances from all three.

“One way or the other, Cotonsport tries to contribute its fair share to our national team’s success.”

“We have a library,” Mr. Adamou reiterated before adding: “When visited, you will notice that we had 5 players (one who was actively linked) with Cotonsport, and four others who started their professional careers here at Cotonsport, that helped Cameroon win the 2017 AFCON”.

“Today, we have key players in our national team – who went through our set up, especially Aboubakar, born at the Roumde Adjia neighborhood. He grew at Roumde Adjia and feels at home.

“Moumi Ngamaleu played at Roumde Adjia for three seasons, Zambo Anguissa played here for a year. They’re all at home.

“With Aboubakar, Cotonsport played the final of the CAF champions league in 2008; during Zambo’s stay, we played the final of the CAF Confederations cup in 2013.

“In Moumi’s stint, we played the semi finals of the CAF champions league in 2014 – so they know the atmosphere here.

“We hope that they can carry the team through to the 2023 AFCON. We are happy the game is being played in Garoua.

“Garoua are a football loving public, thirsting for football, and we equally hope to see our stars shine.”

Mister Adamou wishes for all three former players of Cotonsport to have a good game and possibly score on Tuesday.

“All three players (Anguissa, Aboubakar and Ngamaleu) have offensive instincts. So, we are hoping that they score if possible. It will be great for the Garoua football loving public. One of our current players – Jean Eric Moursou, often carried the bags of Moumi Ngamaleu when he was here, and on Tuesday, Moumi Ngamaleu will play before him again.

“That will only make some of our younger players work harder. We wish the Lions well here in Garoua,” Adamou ended.
