Indomitable Lions October Friendlies: Kunde, Ngom Return As Magri is Poised for Debut
Cameroon’s October international break is going to be a high profile one as head coach, Rigobert Song has made midfield and attacking tweaks to his 24man list for the Russia and Senegal friendly matches.
The most significant of all three additions is the introduction of Ligue-1 striker, Frank Magri of Toulouse. The 24-year-old who has featured for the french club in all Europa League matches counts two league goal in seven appearances most of which he has come on as a sub.
Credited for his monstrous performances at Bastia in the french second tier, Rigobert Song hopes to fashion a formidable assest in Magri ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and possibly AFCON in January.
Jérome Ngom Mbekeli of Sherriff makes his return since June 10 2023 when he watched from the bench as Cameroon drew 2-2 against Mexico. The 24-year-old former Colombe of Dja wing-back has high game time in both the Moldovan Championship and Europa League with three goals in all competitions.
Just like Ngom, Kunde Malong is on a comeback since switching from Olympiakos to Atromitos on a season long loan move in search for game time. Kunde, 28 is gradually picking up steam with four apps in which he is yet to get goal and saw red against Asteras on October 2.
Cameroon takes on The Sbornaya of Russia on October 12 at the Dinamo Lav Yashin Stadium 5pm and three days square-up in Lens against AFCON holders, Senegal.
Despite emerging reports of André Onana being skeptical about AFCON, Coach Rigobert Song has his goalkeepers and backline unchanged since booking the AFCON ticket.
Moumi Ngamaleu who will be facing teammates in the game with Russia constitues an attacking machinery which includes Vincent Aboubarkar, Choupo-Moting, Njie and Toko Eakambi.
