Aigle begin post – Nankam with win over Colombe
Days after mutually parting ways with coach Olivier Nankam, Aigle registered its first league win this campaign against Colombe FC.
Aigle Royal of the Menoua style-named ‘El Pacha’ leapfrogged Colombe on game day 9 of the MTN Elite One at the Bamendzi stadium, Bafoussam.
With no wins prior to the game and a calamitous record that saw Aigle top group B from the bottom, the West side had to put in a shift in game day 9.
The game was back and forth for chunks of the first and second segments, but it took a moment of individual brilliance from teenage sensation, Junior Bembong to break the deadlock at the 66th minute.
The youngster who debuted in the Elite One championship under coach David Pagou and scored his first goal aged 16, is proving to be of age now.
However, Aigle will need all of the luck in the world, couple with its big names to step up in the second round, so as to avoid the relegation playoffs.
For coach Ema Ndongo and his Colombe side, there are not many changes, as they place 7th with 10 points.
