AFCON 2023: Cape Verde’s Bubista to go all out for win against Egypt

Cape Verde manager Bubista has insisted that his team will seek nothing but a win against Egypt despite already securing qualification to the round of 16.

The Tubarões Azuis have shocked the world by beating both Ghana and Mozambique to secure the top spot of group B and reach the round of 16 ahead of giants like Egypt and Ghana.

While their last group game against Egypt won’t matter for them, it will be crucial for the Pharaohs, who must win in it to reach the knockout rounds as group B runner-ups behind Cape Verde.

However, Cape Verde boss Bubista insisted they will do everything to win against as are aiming for a historic full nine points.

“Some of our players participated in the previous two matches. Everyone should be ready to contribute. We have confidence in all the players, and we will do everything to win against Egypt,” Bubista said in his pre-match press conference.

“We have a great responsibility in front of our fans, and the group points are not closed yet. We must win against Egypt, and we will play in the same way we played against everyone.”

Regarding whether he will still use the regular names against Egypt or not, he said: “All players can participate against Egypt.

“The team seeks to give its best, and we are ready to play. They will enter against Egypt with a strong desire to win.

“It is not a secret that we work collectively and always strive to improve performance. I believe we have become better, and in every match and tournament, we seek to deliver our best.

“We know that in our group, there are strong teams like Egypt and Ghana. We have players who want to show their best individual and collective performance. We help them serve the team with their skills and technical qualities.

“We trust our players, they have experience. We have a great responsibility in every match, and we face all matches in the best possible way. We will always seek to gain victory in every encounter. I know it’s challenging, but we strive to achieve that.

“We have worked in previous periods to improve the capabilities of our national team. Cape Verde is a small country, but we have fantastic players, and we want to win every match. We have always encouraged the players and motivated our team to triumph.”
