Complete press release;

Meeting this February 8, 2024, the Executive Committee of the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF) after having taken stock without complacency of the participation of the Stallions in the AFCON 2023, greets and thanks the president, captain Ibrahim Traoré and his Government, the partners, the supporters, the sports public and Burkinabè of the diaspora, for the multifaceted support from which the team benefited.

It is noted that the results fell short of expectations of the Burkinabè people and we reassure football lovers of our desire to continue to ensure that the national flag is raised at the highest level in future events.

It is undeniable that what the management of the Stallions observed during the AFCON is out of step with the ambitions of the Burkinabe’ Executive Committee.

This is why, while thanking the coach Hubert VELUD and the technical management as a whole, the Executive Committee took the decision not to renew the contract of the coach and the entire management.

The Executive Committee is already planning on the the 2026 World Cup and Morocco 2025.

The federation will constitute as soon as possible a competent and resilient technical management with specifications and imperative objectives of success.

We call on the mobilization of all stakeholders around the Stallions to provide them with firm support and prayers so that they come back with more enthusiasm for greater victories
