AFCON 2025 Q: Indomitable Lions move atop group J with emphatic win against Kenya

The indomitable Lions have regained top spot in group J of the 2025 TotalEnergies AFCON after an emphatic 4-1 bashing of Kenya this Friday, October 11.
Zimbabwe moved temporarily top with 5 points after stunning Namibia on Thursday, but the Brave Warriors now have to settle for a second spot, while waiting for a reversed fixture against Namibia.
In a thrilling display of skill and dominance, Cameroon’s national football team, the Indomitable Lions, triumphed over Kenya’s Harambee Stars in the Afcon 2025 qualifiers.
Under the astute guidance of coach Marc Brys, Cameroon’s players delivered a masterclass performance on the third day of play at the historic Amadou Ahidjo Stadium.
The match saw four remarkable goals from the Indomitable Lions, showcasing their offensive prowess and strategic finesse.
Vincent Aboubakar set the tone early on, converting a penalty in the 8th minute to notch his 45th goal for the country.
This was followed by Martin Hongla’s precise strike in the 39th minute and Bryan Mbuemo’s clinical finish in the 43rd minute.
Despite some missed opportunities earlier in the game, Christian Bassogog redeemed himself in the second half, finding the back of the net in the 55th minute with a goal that underscored Cameroon’s dominance.
Kenya’s Olunga managed to score a consolation goal in the 41st minute, but it was overshadowed by Cameroon’s commanding performance
Cameroon’s control of the game was evident in their statistics, with 61% possession of the ball, superior passing accuracy, and more shots on target compared to their opponents.
These impressive numbers reflect the team’s cohesive gameplay and strategic execution.
With this resounding victory, Cameroon now leads Group G in the Afcon 2025 qualifiers, solidifying their position as a formidable force in African football.
