Patrick Soko set for come-back in Lions den after impressing Marc Brys
Patrick Soko has been called up to his second indomitable Lions camp as Cameroon gears-up for Namibia and Zimbabwe games in mid-November.
Coach Marc Brys has managed to build a strong unit, yet to be defeated since his arrival in the dugout of the 5-time African champions.
Even more impressive, is the gaffer’s scouting and placing abilities that has seen top players berthed in his era.
One of the players Brys has brought to the lamplight is Huesca’s speedster, Patrick Soko.
The erstwhile Les Astres winger is a good backup option in a hotly contested wing-position, garnished with the presence of in-form Mbuemo and the rejuvenated Bassogog, plus, Ngamaleu fully recovering from injury, with a good productivity rate.
A glimmer of what Soko can offer was on show in the home and away fixtures in October against Kenya despite limited game time.
Seemingly, Soko has done enough to convince Brys of his spot in the upcoming games this November.
The Lions have two important, though, not “crucial” games upcoming (given that Cameroon already booked an AFCON slot).
First, there’s a trip to SA on October 13 at the Orlando stadium, where the 5-time AFCON champions will face Namibia.
And on the 19th, Marc Brys and his men will face Zimbabwe at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Omnisports stadium, on the 5th and 6th days of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
While the masses await an official list of Marc Brys, Huesca already announced the call-up of Patrick Soko to the national team on different official club handles.
Soko has been dire for his team this season, registering over 744 minutes across 11 of 12 games played, en route to Huesca’s promotion-chasing season. Huesca are placed 10th but just 4 points separates them from second-placed Real Zaragoza.
