In a spirited match at the Women’s Basketball League of Africa (WBLA) in Senegal, Al Ahly emerged victorious against the FAP women’s basketball team, marking their second win in the tournament. The girls under the guidance of coach Lanteu Majolie faced a tough challenge, ultimately suffering a 89-63 defeat against the Dakar-based basketball team, following a previous loss in game one.
Despite the setback, Coach Majolie expressed admiration for the team’s performance, highlighting their potential for future success. “I appreciate their level of play. It proves that in the near future we can do better,” remarked the coach, emphasizing the positive aspects of their game despite the outcome.
Reflecting on the areas that need improvement, Coach Majolie identified the pace of the game as a significant factor, noting that his players lacked experience in this competitive environment as they participated for the first time. He also mentioned the role of the referees in the game’s dynamics. However, displaying a sense of responsibility, he humbly stated, “But I am going to put the blame on me,” showing leadership and accountability in the face of adversity.
Looking ahead, FAP is gearing up to face MFM Queens of Nigeria in Game 3, scheduled for December 10. This upcoming match presents another opportunity for the team to showcase their resilience and determination as they strive for success in the WBLA tournament.
