Soko scores third of the season in comeback win against Eibar

SD Huesca turned around SD Eibar’s lead thanks to goals from Cameroon winger Soko and Sielva, and Dani Jiménez stopped a penalty in stoppage time to maintain a 2-1 victory. It was Soko’s third goal in the Spanish second-tied championship.

Amidst the rain, which at times turned to snow, and the wind blowing in El Alcoraz, Corpas nicked the ball and put it in the heart of the area, leaving it to Pascual to score the first goal advantage Eibar.

In the 9th minute of the match, Huesca  had to regroup, with a good run by Gerard that almost saw Soko finish, but his header went over the crossbar.

With the lead on the scoreboard, Eibar grew and looked more comfortable on the El Alcoraz pitch. However, the blaugranas stayed in it and created chances.

As the minutes passed, Huesca’s statistics improved, as they accumulated dangerous attacks through their right flank, until they found, in the end, the reward of the goal. It was on the head of Patrick Soko , who was perhaps lucky with his new hairstyle, to head Ignasi Vilarrasa’s cross into the net, reaching the break with the score at 1-1.

A great save from the Eibar goalkeeper prevented SD Huesca from taking the lead just after the restart, in a perfectly executed counterattack, in which Soko went at speed, and passed it to Javi Hernández in the area, who after a great control, looked for the goal.

Magunagoitia used his reflexes in what already seemed like a pass to the net.

Hidalgo then made changes on the bench, with the departure of Joaquín and Unzueta, replacing Soko and Sergi Enrich. And it was  a fall by Joaquín in the area that led to the penalty that resulted in the second goal. Sielva did not miss from the eleven meters and completed the comeback.

Eibar tried to react in the final stretch, in the 83rd minute, with a move of multiple shots in which the Huesca team defended tooth and nail. There was time for one last twist, when, already in stoppage time, the referee awarded a penalty for a hold in the area. But Dani Jiménez put on his superhero cape, and held his position to stop the penalty that Corpas launched into the centre . There was no time for more than the explosion of joy from an Alcoraz that was once again declaring victory.
