Nkoudou bags impressive MOTM award in Damac’s win over Al Read

Georges Kévin Nkoudou and his teammates got the better of Al Raed on Friday afternoon at the King Abdullah Stadium in Buraydah. It was on the occasion of the 14th day of the championship.

Oumar Gonzalez faced Nkoudou as both men were starters for Al Raed and Damac respectively but Nkoudou won the day with a man of the match performance for Damac.

After the break, the 18 competing Saudi clubs are back in action. On the back of a 2-2 draw against Al Feiha at home, Damac got back on track.

Both clubs needed the three points from the match to bounce back in the rankings. The challenge was to get closer to the top 10 in the rankings. But, the both teams had to hold on until the end of each half for fireworks.

Al Raed, who were on the hunt of a fifth victory of the season, had the first chances of the match in the earlier stages.

Unfortunately, Karim El Berkaoui and his teammates came up against Damac’s defense led by the Bedrane – Chafaï pair each time.

On one of the best chances of the match, Damac opened scoring. In the 44th minute of play, Nicolae Stanciu scored on a pass from Nkoudou. It was the Cameroonians third season assist, after directly contributing 8 goals. The tactical readjustments made by Al Read gaffer Odair Hellmann was unsuccessful as the first half was negotiating a final stretch.

Another goal was scored by the visitors in borrowed time (90+) to seal the win.

With this victory, Damac provisionally enters the top 10 with 18 points in 14 days.
