Danny Namaso dumps Three Lions for Indomitable Lions

After several failed attempts to get the FC Porto striker, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has finally announced the eligibility of Danny Namaso in the ranks of the Indomitable Lions.

In a night press release on Wednesday, Fecafoot made official the change of sporting nationality of Danny Namaso, former English international from the U16s to the U20s (48 caps), in favor of Cameroon. Consequence: the Porto center forward is now available for selection with the Indomitable Lions.

“The Cameroon Football Federation informs the national, international public and the national football community that, by decision of the World Football Governing Body (FIFA), has cleared Daniel Loader Namaso, initially selected in the lower national teams of the English Football Association, on January 28, 2025 to play from now on for the senior national selection of Cameroon with immediate effect.”

Pre-selected last October, the 24-year-old player had been the subject of disagreements between Fecafoot and coach Marc Brys, while he had not been selected the following November. The federation had been singled out for not having sent the last necessary letters on time, to England and FIFA.

Having scored three times after 25 games played this season with the Dragões, Namaso should, barring any major surprises, be on Brys’ next list to face Eswatini and Cape Verde in March, as part of the fifth and sixth qualifying days for the 2026 World Cup.
