Indomitable Lion Djawal Kaiba Commits to Chad
Djawal Kaïba will no longer be donning the colors of Cameroon. The promising midfielder, a product of the renowned Coton Sport de Garoua academy, has officially chosen to represent Chad.
The young player’s international story will not be written in the den of the Indomitable Lions. Kaïba, who made a name for himself with Coton Sport, cemented his decision by accepting a call-up on Thursday, October 2nd, from Chadian national team coach Raoul Savoy. He is slated to join the squad for the 9th and 10th matchdays of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
A Promising Midfielder Switches Allegiance
At just 22 years old, the former SCR Altach player is set to join the Sao of Chad despite having previously featured for Cameroon’s youth selections. Djawal Kaïba was widely regarded as a bright prospect for the Indomitable Lions’ midfield, making his decision to join the Chadian national team a topic of mixed reaction across social media.
Kaiba represented cameroon’s under-17, U20, U23, the intermediate and the indomitable Lions, scoring in all occasions, making him the only lad to do so.
A Growing Trend of National Team Switches
Kaïba’s move is not an isolated incident but rather indicative of a broader trend. In recent years, several talented Cameroonian players have opted to join other national teams. A notable example is Samuel Nlend, who, in 2022, accepted a call-up from the Central African Republic national team. The former Futuro King forward ultimately chose to represent the Wild Beasts of the Central African Republic.
