Guilia Galli bags brace as Italy U17 defeat hosts Morocco

Morocco’s U-17 women’s national football team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Italy on Tuesday night in their second Group A match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, held at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

Italy got off to a quick start, securing a commanding lead early in the first half. Giulia Galli found the back of the net twice, scoring in the 5th and 13th minutes, taking her goals tally to four in the competition. Rachele Giudici then added a third goal for Italy in the 23rd minute, putting the Italians firmly in control before the break.

Morocco showed resilience in the second half, and their efforts were rewarded in the 82nd minute when Dounia El Masmoudi scored, pulling one back for the home side. The goal marked Morocco’s first of the tournament on home soil. However, it proved to be a consolation goal, as Italy successfully saw out the match for a decisive 3-1 victory.

The result leaves Morocco at the bottom of Group A with no points after two games, following an earlier defeat to Brazil. Italy now leads the group with a perfect six points. Morocco will face Costa Rica in their final group stage match on Friday, October 24th, with a chance to secure a third-place finish and potentially qualify for the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams.
