Minister Narcisse Mouelle Oversees Finishing Touches Of Olembe Complex
Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education – Narcisse Mouelle Kombi on July 29, made another tour at the 60,000 seater capacity Olembe sports complex, to ensure that work is going as rehearsed.
The minister was quite impressed and in his trademark optimistic nature, he promised citizens of the country that the patch will host its first international game in September. Read him;
‘We had a couple of trajectories that were yet to be completed, and they look much more better today. For instance, the dressing rooms of match Officials and players. Aside from those, we equally noted some progress in total and for us it is the most important.
‘We are up to speed with some specifications from CAF that were communicated,’ the Minister opined before going on;
‘If we were to use an image of this place, we would say the Olembe Stadium is like a mountain. We just need a few more things to reach the summit. We would eventually get to the summit which is; the availability of this wonderful infrastructure made available with the help of the president of the republic, H.E President Paul Biya’.
Minister Narcisse Mouelle went on to confirm that Cameroon will start their road to Qatar 2022 in that Stadium.
‘The stadium will certainly host its first international encounter in the start of September,’ he concluded.
Magil’s Director of project – Yoann Ropital added to the Minister’s voice by confirming that, the stadium is close to completion with places like the cafeteria and lunch area undergoing finishing touches.
As for other necessities like field lighting, Yoann says it will be completed in four days from now.
The Director at Magil has however asked for just a little more time to completely garnish the external area of the stadium.
‘The external area of the stadium is the section with the most work for now. I think the internal part of the job will be done in 10 days, and for the external parts, we need a maximum of three weeks’, Ropital Yoann ended.
The Olembe Stadium is well on queue to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations in 2021.
