Liberian top-flight side Black Man Warrior Football Club has successfully secured the services of one of Cameroon’s most distinguished tacticians, Ernest Agbor Ako, heralding a new era of ambition and professional development. The CAF License A coach touched down in Monrovia, Liberia, on Monday evening to a welcoming party led by Julius Jay Kwateh, the club’s licensed agent and CEO of JK Academy. Coach Ako brings a formidable, quarter-century-long résumé etched across the elite landscape of Central African football. He has been entrusted with the crucial task of injecting continental experience and structure into the Warriors’ system.

The immediate task facing the new gaffer is a challenging one. Black Man Warriors are currently 11th in the 14-team championship, having secured just 4 points from a possible 15. This difficult record is what Ernest Agbor Ako is now looking to significantly improve. In fact, he was already in the stands on game day 5, witnessing the team secure a draw against Heaven Eleven FC upon his arrival.
The Architect of Champions: A Career Forged in Fire
Coach Ako’s career is a masterclass in top-flight management, featuring stints with major Cameroonian clubs including Union Sportive Douala, Les Astres De Douala, and UMS Loum. Perhaps his most high-profile achievement came as co-coach alongside Gabriel Haman at perennial champions Coton Sport de Garoua. Together, they steered the club to the prestigious CAF Champions League group stages in 2022. Prior to his latest role as head coach of Bamboutos of Mbouda during the 2023/2024 season, Coach Agbor also lent his expertise to the national selections, notably serving as an assistant coach with the Intermediate Lions (Cameroon’s CHAN team) between 2016 and 2018.
