Benin Finalizes 28-Man Squad for AFCON 2025

Gernot Rohr has officially confirmed his final 28-man roster for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. The “Cheetahs” arrive at the tournament looking to capitalize on their recent upward trajectory, which saw them finish level on points with Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers. Rohr has opted for a squad that prioritizes defensive continuity and the physical presence of his European-based core.

The Defensive Wall

The selection is built on a foundation of experienced defenders. The central partnership of Mohamed Tijani and Olivier Verdon remains the bedrock of the backline, supported by the leadership of veterans David Kiki and Yohan Roche. The defensive unit also features Rachid Moumini, Rodrigue Fassinou, Tamimou Ouorou, Samadou Attidjikou, and the highly anticipated newcomer Charlemagne Azongnitodé, who earned his place following a standout season in Finland.
