Al Hilal Requests Match Postponement After Hamza El Moussaoui’s Two-Year Ban
A the CAF Disciplinary Committee has officially handed down a two-year suspension to Renaissance Berkane player Hamza El Moussaoui for a doping violation.
The ripple effects of this decision have reached Sudan, prompting Al Hilal SC to take immediate legal action.
Al Hilal Sudan has submitted an urgent request to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Committee, demanding the postponement of the clash between Renaissance Berkane and AS FAR (Army Royal), which was scheduled for this coming Saturday in the CAF Champions League.
Al Hilal’s legal team has grounded their request in four specific articles of the CAF Disciplinary Code. Their argument centers on the “significant harm” that would be caused if the match proceeds as scheduled before a final ruling on their formal complaint is reached.
Al Hilal contends that if the match is played now, any subsequent ruling in their favor would be rendered ineffective, causing irreparable damage to the integrity of the competition.
As of now, CAF has not issued a formal statement regarding the postponement. However, the suspension of a key player like El Moussaoui has thrown the upcoming fixtures into a state of legal uncertainty.
