Confirmed: PWD Obtains CAF License, Joins Big 4
Elite One holders PWD of Bamenda have just become the 5th club in Cameroon to obtain a CAF license, sportsglitz.net have gathered from club sources and kmerfoot.com.
The information was confirmed at noon, on Monday August 9, a club source told sportsglitz.net, verifying an earlier information that circulated.
Earlier in the day, Kamersports237 broke the news: ‘the documents of PWD have been validated by the CAF Licencing Commission.
The information has just been made Official. The Abakwa Boys have just completed the table of eligible teams to compete in CAF club competitions, after the club managed to obtain the CAF license. The Cameroon cup finalists no longer have a worry,’ Kmersport237 ended.
A meeting was held today as regards the query of Continental club representatives at the FECAFOOT headquarter today.
The meeting was between the CAF license experts who arrived Cameroon some 48 hours ago, and the club presidents of Elite One, Elite Two, Guinness Super League, and the CAF licenses commission in Cameroon.
This now means that a victory in the Cameroon Cup by the Abakwa Boys will automatically gift them one of two continental slots available.
Clubs who have obtained CAF licenses in Cameroon are: Astres FC, Cotonsport, Fovu, PWD and Panthere.
For starters, clubs who haven’t obtained CAF licenses will not be eligible to represent their countries in CAF club competitions even with a silverware.
The obtaining of CAF licenses falls within several criterias such as: a franchises treatment of athletes, infrastructure, administrative set up, the legal and the financial state of the franchise. Submission of teams to the Confederation Of African Football is due today.
