Both club and country are nail-biting as regards Onana’s fitness, after the shot-stopper picked and injury in action for Ajax over the weekend.

For Ajax, their two regular goalies this season; Remko Pasveer and Jay Gorter are out injured, and Onana is highly needed at this point. The situation doesn’t favor Cameroon as well, as they have a telling tie against Algeria, later this month.

Andre Onana guarded the cage for Ajax on Sunday’s away game against the Go Ahead Eagles. The Cameroonian played because Remko Pasveer and Jay Gorter were injured. Maarten Stekelenburg underwent hip surgery in October and is set to miss the entire season for Ajax, which makes things worse.

The last time Onana played in goal for Ajax was in the last group game against Besiktas in the Champions League at the end of November.

During the game against Go Ahead Eagles, the goalkeeper got injured on his left ankle. He underwent further examinations on Tuesday, but a definite result is yet to be given.

As a reminder, Onana helped his country to third place in the Africa Cup of Nations tourney played in Cameroon.
