Europa League: Ekambi’s Lyon Take Front Foot Against Porto

Karl Toko Ekambi’s Lyon beat FC Porto 1-0 at the Estadio Dragao on Wednesday in the round of 16 first leg of the Europa League. A victory that puts them in good position to qualify for the quarter-finals of this year’s Euroupa league.

Lyon won thanks to a goal from Brazilian international Lucas Paqueta at the 60th minute after the French side had wasted some chances.

OL got into the game well, putting on a lot of intensity and winning over the opposing camp, thanks to their midfielders. But in the first half, Lyon failed to capitalize with her chances.

The move that resulted to a goal started from Toko Ekambi from the left wing, who served Dembele, and then it was placed on the path of Paquetá for 1-0. The goal was first disallowed for an offside before being validated after a VAR check.

A few minutes later, VAR again benefited Lyon by canceling a penalty against Porto after a handball from Paquetá in the area.

The return game comes up on March 17 at the Parc Olympiue Lyonnais.

Toko Ekambi is still the lead goal scorer of the competition with 6 goals and two assists in 7 games.
