CAF Confed Cup: Ahly Tripoli Knocks Zanaco Out

Libyan side Al Ahli Tripoli got closer to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday, after their victory over Zanaco on the occasion match day 4.

The Libyans prevailed 3-2 in a spirited match. They were to open the scoring, through Mohammed El Fakih in the 13th minute via penalty spot.

Zanaco equalized courtesy Abraham Siankombo with five minutes past the half hour.

The scoreboard read 1-1 at halftime. Back from the locker room, Al Ahli Tripoli regained the lead, again thanks to El Fakih, astonishingly, through a converted spot kick.

Determined not to lose, the home side equalised at the 82nd minute with a Moses Phiri strike.

That however counted very little. In added on time, Muetaz Husayn finished off the tie (3-2) at the 92nd minute.

This victory meant Ahli Tripoli took second place in group A, behind Pyramids FC who had a one-all parity against CS Sfaxien later that evening.

With four defeats four match days, Zanaco are eliminated from contention.
