BAL S2: Sahara Conference Provides 4 Playoffs Franchises
After 10 days filled with drama and action, four franchises have picked up tickets for the second edition of he Basketball Africa League playoffs.
REG, AS Monastir, SALE and SLACK are the teams who will be representing the Sahara Conference at the forthcoming playoffs.
It turned out to be an unfortunate regular season for Clube Ferroviaro who are going to be missing out on the big time (play-offs) this term, but they made the playoffs in the inaugural season.
Aside from and Monastir and REG sailing through prior to the final day, everything was still possible in the hotly contested conference, right up until the last minutes.
REG utterly shattered Clube Ferroviaro’s campaign on the final day with a 94-89 victory, despite having already qualified.
The victory took Robert Pack and his boys to the top of the Sahara Conference ahead of Monastir on a head to head basis. Just to lay emphasis on the fact that Monastir and SLACK were sat out on the final day.
The last game of the regular season saw AS SALE go up against hosts DUC. SALE made no mistake this time, as they went on to defeat DUC 91-86. As SALE didn’t particularly start the season on a bright note but they picked up the pieces and won 3 of 5 games in total.
It is then done and dusted for the Sahara, as all eyes are now fixed on Nile.
From 9 – 19 of April 2022 the Nile group phase continues in Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in Cairo. The four best teams from the Nile will meet those in Sahara in an epic playoffs which begins on 21 May and finishes on May 28 with the finals. All games will be played in a single-elimination format, and will be played at the Kigali Arena in Kigali
