Onana’s Ajax Bundled Out of the UCL

Inter – bound goalkeeper Andre Onana and his Ajax teammates are out of Champions League after losing their R16 tie to Benfica.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper would have to take some of the blame for Ajax’s Champions League exit with a telling error that cost Ajax the tie.

Level at two – all late in the second leg of the tie in Amsterdam, the 25 year old misjudged an outing, and Darwin Núñez was on hand to finish, and that was that.

Onana has already signed a deal with Inter and undergone a medical as his current contract with the Dutch giants expires on June 30.

He was reportedly used against Benfica because all the other goal-guards were injured.

It hasn’t been smooth at all for the goalie since the end of the AFCON where he ended 3rd with the indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

Onana has made Rigobert Song’s final list of 27 players to face Algeria in the World Cup qualifiers on March 25 and 29. If Cameroon should go through, Onana will need to step up his game.
