Algeria vs Cameroon: Belmadi Reinforces With Benrahma

Multiple sources from Algeria are reporting that West Ham attacking midfielder Saïd Benrahma has been called up to join the Desert Foxes for the return match pitting Algeria against Cameroon in the qualifying play-offs for the 2022 World Cup.

Saïd Benrahma, who had not been called up in Belmadi’s list of 24 on March 19, has just been called up by the Algerian gaffer for the return match against the Indomitable Lions which will take place this Tuesday 29 March at 9:30 p.m. in Blida.

The 26-year-old player who could only watch the victory of his teammates (0-1) in the first leg in Cameroon on TV, returns to the team after the AFCON which saw the Algeria shameful knocked out in the first round last January.

Benrahma has contributed to 12th of the Hammers’ premier league goals this campaign, with 6 goals and 6 assists in 26 games.

At the time this report is filled in, it is not known if Benrahma is coming in as replacement for possible injury of another Algerian attacking player or if he is filling up for the suspension of Ramy Bensebaini for the reversed fixture.

The pre-match press conference to be held today at 5:30 p.m. will definitely have Djamel Belmadi give more information on the reasons for this reinforcement on the Algerian side.
