CAF CL: Zamalek, Sagrada Ends In Parity

Zamalek could not do better than a draw against Sagrada Esperança (0-0), on Friday, April 1, at the Cairo International Stadium, as part of day 6 of Group D of the CAF Champions League.

The White Knights pushed in search of an opener but Mahmoud Alaa’s header from a cross by Ashraf Bencharki went wide at the 7th minute.

Islam Jaber saw his shot saved on the goal line in the 25th minute, before Mohamed Aouad saved Zamalek a few minutes later from an attack from the Angolan representatives.

Abdelshafi hit the post, following a good serve from Bencharki, in the 52nd minute.

Despite changes made by Fereira with the coming into play of Sayed Neymar in place of Islam Jaber, Ayman Hefny in place of Hazem Emam and Saif Jaafar replacing Ashraf Roqa, the score did not change and the two teams separated on a goalless draw.

With this score, Zamalek ends her adventure in 3rd place in group D with 4 points, ahead of the Sagrada – who are rock bottom with 2 points.
