Conceiçao Linked With Super Eagles Job

Former Indomitable Lions coach Antonio Conceiçao is reporterdly in talks with the Nigerian Football Federation to take over from a vacancy as the super Eagles’ coach.

Sacked from his position as indomitable Lions coach on February 28 and replaced by Rigobert Song, the Portuguese could quickly bounce back as the gaffer is on several radars.

The Portuguese gaffer is in talks the Nigerian Football Association to take charge of the Super Eagles, after they failed to make it through to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

According to other sources, the federation would like to hire a foreign coach while the Ministry of Sports stands in favour of a local.

Coach Augustine Eguavoen threw in the towel after Nigeria’s elimination from the Qatar 2022 World Cup play-offs.

The federation then dissolved the staff after the failure, which was still reminiscent of the premature exit at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.

Antonio Conceiçao was equally rumoured to be on the short list of the Burkinabè football federation, as they look further for a successor to Kamou Malo whose contract wasn’t extended.
