Elite One: Benja Francis Looks On As Sime Hits Double For Eding Against Avion

Intermediate Lions midfeilder, Junior Sime scored a double for Eding Sports as they leapfrogged Avion 2-1 on match day One in group A.

Coach Ngambe David of Avion Academy opted for experience instead of youth in the back line, starting Youmi and Joseph Nde, ahead of young Benja Francis, who was one of the team’s star recruit last month.

The first half of the encounter at the Omnisport annex 1 was barren for many reasons, but the second segment brought forth three goals.

Against the run of play, second half substitute, Evrad Dajip opened scores at the 52nd minute for Avion Academy.

Sime Junior, one of the survivors of that mass player exodus that saw most Eding players leaving for other teams after a second place finish in the championship, pulled the game square at the 61st minute.

Goalkeeper Aslem Che was starting his first game at an Elite level and that was visible given the events surrounding Eding’s second goal.

Sime was in place to knock his second home at the 76th minute, as last season’s vice champions started their journey with a narrow win.
