Senegalese Government Go The Extra Mile For Teranga Lions

For their third participation in the World Cup finals, Senegal dreams of going all the way, in Qatar.

To achieve that, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) had fixed a budget of FCfa 8 billion, according to its president Augustin Senghor.

The Senegalese government has however, been more than generous, thus, leading to an astonishing sum of 14 billion being announced.

In an executive committee meeting, the question of Senegal’s participation budget in the Qatar 2022 World Cup was one of the essential points.

“Discussions took place between the ministry and the federation on the budget. Our representatives have confirmed to us that President Macky Sall has taken all the steps to ensure that the budget is mobilized and that all issues are taken care of in time to have a good preparation”. Weeks ago, the boss of Senegalese football had envisaged a budget of 8 billion for a good participation of Senegal in the World Cup, the government was much more generous by almost doubling the amount.

According to Senegalese paper ‘Les Echos,’ a sum of 14 billion Senegalese francs has been released to allow the Teranga Lions team to go beyond the quarter-finals of the World Cup to be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. 2022.
