Rugby Lionesses Defeat Cote D’Ivoire In Rugby Cup Of Nations Qualifiers

The Rugby Lionesses, an affiliate of the Rugby Union overcame their Ivorian counterparts in the afternoon of Friday Nov. 4, via a score of 8-0.

The lionesses who have been preparing for several weeks started their journey on Friday at the annex stadium number 1 of Olembe, in the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup, group D qualifiers for the Women’s Rugby AFCON.

Cameroon in lodged in group D alongside Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.

Only the first of the group will win a ticket for the AFCON. For its first outing, Cameroon ranked 4th on the continent and 28th globally faced Côte d’Ivoire ranked 44th.

It was only logical that Cameroon favorites, won their first game 8-0.

The Cameroonians scored a try thanks to Mengue Yvanna and converted a penalty by Ndingo Priso Maxime.

Their next outing will be against Burkina Faso on November 12, 2022. Burkina Faso will enter the competition next Tuesday, November 08, 2022 against Côte d’Ivoire. The heavyweights of the continent South Africa (13th) in the world, Madagascar (25th), and Kenya 27th are the main rivals of the lionesses on the continent.

The performance of the Ivorians on Friday afternoon means Cameroon could mainly have Burkina Faso as the main contenders.
