Qatar 2022: Mane In Doubt After Injury 12 Days Prior

Senegalese international forward, Sadio Mane hobbled off at the 21st minute injured on his right knee, in Bayern’s game against Werder Bremen on Tuesday, twelve days before the start of the World Cup in Qatar.

The former Liverpool striker lay down on the patch before asking to be subbed off. According to the daily Bild, the first diagnosis showed no serious damage.

Bayern eventually won the game against Werder Bremen (6-1).

The 30-year-old left his place for German international Leroy Sané in the match day 14 game, which was the final game before a FIFA world cup break. Second behind Karim Benzema in the 2022 Ballon d’Or standings, Sadio Mane is the star of the Teranga Lions of Senegal, and he has so far had a near-perfect football calendar year, winning the African Nations Cup in early February, playing the champions League final with Liverpool in June, before joining Munich in the summer.

The Teranga Lions start their World Cup on November 21st against the Netherlands. The 2022 African champions are in Group A, along hosts Qatar, the Netherlands and Ecuador.
