Qatar 2022: Team News And How Tunisia Could Shape Up Against Denmark

Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand called on his side to “dream big” at the start of their World Cup campaign against Tunisia in Group D, but the North Africans will be ready to dash those hopes.

Denmark – ranked 10th in the world – hope to start with a win at Education City Stadium. They went all the way to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 last summer before retiring to beaten finalists England.

Tunisia however, cannot be underestimated, having cruised through CAF qualifying with a two-legged win over Mali after dominating their group.

Here’s all the latest squad news and roster ahead of the November 22 game.

Possible Line-up of Denmark against Tunisia

Denmark have enjoyed a relatively injury-free preparation for the tournament and coach Hjulmand has all his options available to him as his side is set to kick off their campaign.

Tunisia and injury hitches

Tunisia’s main problems are with Ellyes Skhiri and Youssef Msakni, but they’re just light Injury cases and coach Jalel Kadri has to make a choice; either he plays them both or save the pair for tougher tests against Australia and Turkey.

Below are the possible starting lineups for both teams ahead of their game at Education City Stadium on November 21.

Denmark could start with a 3-4-2-1 system;

  1. Schmeichel (GK) – 2. Andersen, 3. Nelsson, 6. A. Christensen – 18. Wass, 23. Hojbjerg, 8. Delaney, 5. Maehle – 11. Olsen, 10. Eriksen – 12. Dolberg

There are no injury concerns for Denmark, as defender Andreas Christensen has recovered from an ankle injury and had few minutes with Barcelona before heading to the World Cup.

Forward Jonas Vent is fit to play despite missing Bundesliga side Wolfsburg’s final game before the World Cup break, but is unlikely to make the starting XI anyway .

Tunisia possible 11
4-3-3:

  1. Dahmen (GK) – 20. Drager, 6. Bronn, 3. Talbi, 4. Meriah – 18. Chaalali, 17. Skhiri, 14. Laidouni – 25. Slimane, 19. Jaziri, 7. Msakni

Tunisian midfielder Ellyes Skhiri suffered a broken cheekbone in late October but returned a week later wearing a mask, while captain Youssef Msakni has also missed club duties in recent weeks but is expected to get fit in the course of the tournament.

Defender Omar Rekik is absent from the tournament after sustaining a muscle injury less than a month before the start of the final.
