Qatar 2022: Ziyech Becomes Third African Player To Win A MOTM Award

After Morocco’s two-nil victory against Belgium, Hakim Ziyech was named the Budweiser man of the match, becoming the third African player to win the award so far – after Tunisia’s Aïssa Laïdouni and Boulaye Dia of Senegal.

Ziyech dazzled from start to finish and assisted Aboukhlal for his team’s second in borrowed time (90+2) to make sure of Morocco’s victory against Belgium. The Chelsea man equally scored from a direct free kick but it was chalked off for off-side in the first half.

In his favorite position as one of two strikers in a 4-4-2 system, Boulaye Dia had an impeccable display on the occasion of the second day in group A. FiFA awarded the Salernitana striker the MOTM award. It came on the back of a first victory for the Teranga Lions in the World Cup.

Last Tuesday in the Al Rayyan stadium, Tunisia had a solid match as they held Denmark to a zero-all tie. Combative midfeilder Aïssa Laïdouni was handed a man of the match award after he faired well against the midfield trio of: Modric, Brozovic and Kovacic.
