Qatar 2022: Two WAC players Help Morocco To Last 4

Coach Walid Regragui did not take along home-based players to just make up the numbers. Testament to this, is the inclusion of left back Attiat-Allah, and
Yahya Jabrane in Morocco’s historic quarter-finals win against Portugal on Saturday.

Indeed, it was a peach of a cross from Attiat-Allah that found the head of En Nesyri for the lone goal in the fixture.

Prior to the game, Attiat-Allah who has been Mazraoui’s clone down the left played 3 games against; Croatia, Belgium and Spain with an accumulated 100 minutes.

The 27 year old had to step up to a staring role given Mazraoui’s fitness issues, and he repaid Walid’s confidence in some style.

Another Wydad Athletic Club player who played a part in Morocco’s win against Portugal is Yahya Jabrane.

Aged 31, the holding midfeilder made his second tournament appearance off the bench. It was the second time he was fielded; the first was the 5 minutes played against Canada. Jabrane came on for a tired Boufal at the 82nd minute and really put up a fight in the mid to secure Morocco’s lead.

With these two, Regragui dominated the continent and clutched the CAF Champions League in May. In fact, another who was part of the team but later left for French League 1 side Brest is 23 year old defender, Achraf Dari.

Attiat-Allah and co are definitely representing the continent’s inter-club competitions in a lovely manner. A win against France next Wednesday will see the fairytale continue.
