Reason Why Souaibou Is In Cameroon Despite Cotonsport-Pirates Transfer Agreement

South African outfit Orlando Pirates and Cotonsport of Garoua have agreed terms for the transfer of striker, Marou Souaibou but last season’s ballon D’or winner is yet to move.

The man who turned 22 on December 3 has been beseeched by top FECAFOOT Stakeholders to play the African Nations Championship for the intermediate Lions before completing a move out, sportglitz.com has learned.

Souaibou, fresh from the World Cup, played a pivotal role in the qualification of Cameroon to the CHAN finals. He scored one of the goals in Garoua as Cameroon overturned a 1-0 defeat to beat Equatorial Guinea 2-0 in the reversed fixture and qualify for the tournament.

The 7th edition of the 2023 African Nations Championship is penciled for Jan. 13 to February 14, and Souaibou makes part of the pre selected players who entered camp on Monday, Dec. 12.

Other European clubs have shown interest in the striker, but he prefers a move to the 9-time winners of the South African premier division.

The sum of 124,000 million in francs CFA was the amount agreed upon by Cotonsport and Pirates, with a resale commission of 15 percent agreed. The contract duration is yet to be aired.

Souaibou will join a huge cameroonian community in South Africa, including Bienvenu Eva Nga who is with Pirates. Cape Town City’s Ambina and Mani, Maritzburg’s Anye Derrick and Royal AM’s Hugo Nyame are some of the Cameroonian Stars in the PSL.
