CHAN 2022: Madagascar Release CHAN Squad With 5 Elgeco Plus Players

As expected, the Malagasy Football Federation released on Friday, Dec. 23, a list of 26 players who will make the trip for the final phase of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) billed for Algeria from January 13 to February 4, 2023.

The team is made up of 5 Elgeco Plus players who had a descent CAF Confederations cup preliminary campaign, taking out Cameroon’s PWD in the first round.

Zakarinira, Jean Martin, Patrick, Solonjatovo and Tony, are the players taken from the Elgeco Plus team.

Madagascar are newcomers in the competition and will hope to leave a mark on a first attempt.

Before the Algeria journey, the men of Romuald Rakotondrabe aka Rôrô will fly to Tunisia in view of a camp, which will aid the team acclimatize before the competition proper.

Two friendly matches with teams in other groups will be played in Tunisia.

18 national teams are taking part in this final phase of the CHAN, and Madagascar is housed in Group C with the Black Stars of Ghana, the Atlas Lions of Morocco and the Nile Crocodiles of Sudan. Madagascar will compete against Ghana on January 15 at 8 p.m. local time in Constantine. Then Morocco on January 19 at 5 p.m. still in Constantine, and finally Sudan, on January 23 at 8 p.m. local in the city of Oran
