CHAN 2022: Aymen Mahiou’s Converted Penalty Makes It A Happy Start For Algeria

Algeria won against Libya in the opening match of the African Nations Championship.

Algeria hosts are off to a good start. The men of Madjid Bougherra took time to express themselves after
a first period that had chances few and far between.

Algeria could only make the difference after returning from the locker room.

Aymen Mahious took advantage of a bad pass from the Libyan defense to get a penalty. The USM Alger striker did himself justice, taking the doorman the wrong way to open the scoring at the 57th minute.

This win places Algeria on a good footing as they take the lead in group A while waiting for the game pitting Ethiopia against Mozambique.
