Choupo-Moting Hold Talks To Extend Contract At Bayern

Six months from the end of his contract, Choupo Moting is still in negotiation with stakeholders of Bayern Munich for his extension.

After spending two seasons in the shadow of Robert Lewandowski, the Cameroonian striker is now fully expressing his potential. Since the start of the season, he has seized his chance to become Bayern Munich’s number one attacking asset.

Taking advantage of a lack of an out-and-out striker within the Bavarian club, the former Hamburg, Schalke 04 and Mainz forward was able to put himself at the top with a bunch of goals.

Thus, he has a very good record with 11 goals and 3 assists in 16 matches with a team of which he has become a referent at the forefront of the attack.

The statistics speak for him and put a little pressure on Hasan Salihamidzic, sporting director of Bayern, as to his contractual situation.

At the moment, moment Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting could leave Bayern Munich free next June. And the question of his extension is not so obvious since the former Paris Saint-Germain player wants a more important role and an increased salary.

There are two crucial elements Choupo’s file which have slowed down agreement. On Wednesday, BILD explained that on the side of Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, the priority remains an extension and the words of Julian Nagelsmann before the international break explained: “the way he has played in recent weeks makes him essential .” However, he would like to see a significant increase in his salary which now stands at 3 million euros per year and would like his future contract to bind him beyond June 2024.

Strong demands, especially since Bayern Munich does not often tend to give too long contracts to players in their thirties. The discussions are in any case accelerating and the extension of Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting will depend enormously on his performance in the coming weeks.
