CAF CL: Kaiba Djawal fearless ahead of Downs clash

Cotonsport’s Midfeild metronome Djawal Kaiba has voiced that he and his mates are motivated to face South African side Mamelodi Sundowns without any fears.

The Altach bound midfeilder who played an immense role in his team’s 17th title win last term has been tagged ‘a man for the big occasions’ due to his ability to take maters into his hands when the team is in difficulty.

“We would give all to take all the three points. We are Cotonsport and we are playing at home. The fact that they’re on a good run doesn’t scare us.”

Djawal will be playing only his first match at the TotalEnergies CAF champions league group stage on Friday when the red carpet is rolled out for Cotonsport and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Djawal has been held back by his parent club Cotonsport, principally due to the competition, after which he will move out of the continent.

Aged 19, Kaiba has had a stellar last two seasons for club and country, popping up with some big goals.

For country, he capped off last year with three goals for three different categories; the Under 23s, U20s and the indomitable Lions in a warm up game against Jamaica.

The midfeilder is fresh from the CHAN 2022 where he represented Cameroon in Algeria, playing two games against Congo and Niger in group E, as the intermediate Lions exited in the group stage.

Djawal has had a starting berth in Cotonsport’s last two games and he is almost certainly, a sure bet when his team steps out tomorrow to face Sundowns.
