Confirmed: Christian Atsu’s Lifeless Body Found Under The Rubble

Former Black Stars winger Christian Atsu,who played for Turkish club Hatayspor, has been found dead under the rubble of his building in southern Turkey after several days of uncertainty and concern.

Rescuers have been searching for him for two weeks after several earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey, leaving people injured and missing.

Christian Atsu had been missing since then, causing great concern among those close to him and his club. However, this Saturday morning, his agent, quoted by AFP, confirmed that the Ghanaian international had been found dead. The 31-year-old had offered victory to his team the day before the disaster. According to Turkish media, he was in the luxurious 12-storey Rönesans tower that collapsed in the earthquake.

“Atsu’s lifeless body was found under the rubble. We take our stuff out again. His phone was also found, ”said his agent Murat Uzunmehmet on his social networks, before being quoted by the Turkish private agency DHA. The owner of the luxurious residence transformed into a ruin, where over 800 people were buried under, “was arrested last week while trying to leave Turkey”, AFP equally specified.

Christian Atsu joined Turkish club Hatayspor last September. This club is based in the province of Hatay, in southern Turkey, near the epicenter of the earthquake that hit the region. The latest official reports had that the earthquake caused the death of more than 40,000 people in Turkey and Syria, as well as thousands of injured and homeless. Following the news of Christian Atsu’s passing, many tributes were posted on social media in honor of the player who had played for clubs such as Chelsea, Malaga and Newcastle United.
